Here is the list of things that you need to know before applying for a Visa in addition to all the points mentioned on the Official website.

1. Planning your Trip Itinerary – Suppose you are applying for a Schengen Visa from France Embassy but you wish to travel to other Schengen countries like Belgium together in one Go then remember your number of stays must be more than Belgium, which means if you are travelling for 6 days then below combination will work: 4/3 Days in France and 2/3 Days in Belgium. But Presenting your trip itinerary on the appointment day with lesser days of stay in France will result in a visa denial.

2. Insurance – You can get your Insurance From Staysure. It is recommended to get insurance for 1 year and Policy type Annual Multi-Trip. If you are Over 50 then Click here to get your best deal

3. Changing your Current Visa application – Suppose you have submitted your Visa application and mentioned your travel date as 15th of Month A and booked your accommodation as per the travel date but you get your appointment date is scheduled just 3-4 days before or maybe after your planned travel date (HAHA I have mentioned this because the same things happened to me), in this case, you have to change your visa application and carry a fresh print with your travel date and accommodation details updated to a new date may be after 15 days of the scheduled appointment.

4. Spouse Means of subsistence – If your spouse is unemployed or doesn’t have the last 3-month salary slip, then you can sponsor their stay by showing your last three-month bank statement and marriage certificate.

5. Travel and Accommodation – Highly recommended booking free cancellation travel and accommodation. Because getting an appointment varies from Peak season like summer to off-peak season Winter. It is not guaranteed that you will your appointment exactly after 15 days or 30 days or even after 60 days.

6. Bank Statement – A recent statement of UK current account or traveller’s checks shows funds of a minimum of £55 per person per day spent in the Schengen area. Photocopies of the original documents are also to be submitted. Documents should not be more than one month old.

7. Documents – Carry a Print of all documents that you have mentioned on your Schengen visa application including a print of your application form.

8. Others – Once your Visa application is approved you must enter the Schengen country first from where you have submitted your visa application. Suppose you have applied for France then you must enter France first before heading to other Schengen countries. Note you can change your travel date as per your convenience and can reschedule your trip after getting your stamped Visa and can travel to any other Schengen area freely.

I have noted down all the above points after doing my research, please do your research and read carefully the points mentioned on the official website before attending the appointment.
